Are you partially completed or having difficulty putting your induction and mentoring programme in place? If so, we'd like to hear from you!
Our FREE induction and mentoring programme - Tuakana Teina - aims to harness the skills and knowledge of experienced mentor teachers and match them with a limited number of Provisionally Certificated Teachers (PCTs) who are looking for a mentor.
Applications are now open for 2019, with mentoring available for the full academic year!
How does it work?
Having an effective induction and mentoring programme is the key to building a strong foundation for your teaching career. We understand that it’s not always easy to find a mentor, and that’s where we come in.
You’ll receive support from a qualified mentor who will work with you in your educational setting, at times that suit you.
The programme won’t cost you a thing, and the emphasis is on support and growth – not judgement.
Am I eligible?
To qualify for Tuakana Teina you need to:
- Be working at least 0.5 FTTE (this can be across more than one educational setting in your sector)
- Be working in the general education system (school or ECE, English/Māori medium)
- Hold a Provisional Practising Certificate (priority will be given to those in their 5th or 6th year)
- Be seeking a mentor as you do not already have one
